We're Baaack

Just got back yesterday from our trip. Edgey's sister got married so we drove to Roswell, New Mexico to participate. I sang a song, Edgey performed the ceremony, Ethan was an usher, Elizabeth was the most beautiful flower girl and Jesse was the ring bearer. Edgey must have been a bit boring because Jesse yawned about 3 times during the ceremony. LOL When his sis sends us the pics, I will have to put some on here. I couldn't believe how handsome the boys were in tux's and Elizabeth was sooooo pretty. Grandma did up her hair with hot rollers and it actually stayed.

We drove straight down. Left tues night around 7 pm and got there about 1:30 pm on wed. We did go see the movie "Cars" as a family. Very cute! and the kids all got the little happy meal cars during the week.... they kept begging to go to McDonalds to get happy meals against my better judgement. We gave in. Oh well. Now we have almost all of them except the towtruck and the main dude red car, lightning. I actually cried at one part and Edgey said he did too.

The swimming pool was green and gross, so we were completely bummed out because we were expecting to swim everyday and it didn't happen. The guy was supposed to have it fixed by the saturday we were there. He was still washing it out with the hose when we left tuesday. :(

We brought a few tadpoles home in a cup. We found them at grandma's new home in Alamogordo. The kids were very excited and wanted to catch some so now they are in a little glass in the window so we can watch them get bigger. I need to find some food for them now. They ate all the algea. I also brought home some seeds for a sticker bush that popped a hole in grandpa's truck tire. I thought they might be nice over between our house and our favorite neighbors house. I'll try them in a styrofoam cup after they dry out. I'm soooo mean. mwah hahaha.

Let's see.... the wedding went well and Edgey and I actually danced a few dances. I did a two step with the groom's dad. He is an old skinny alcoholic cowboy, but he was very nice and I was trying to keep him from feeling left out. Certain people were not very nice to him. I should know by now how judgemental people are. I also did a two step with Jesse boy, who couldn't keep up but he said "that was fun mom!"

Edgey's aunt invited us to her hotel to go swimming and then we found out that there was some pool conspiracy going on in Roswell because her pool was dead too. We walked to the hotel next to there and finally got to go swimming. Edgey and the kids had a blast and I got to know his aunt a bit better. She has had an "interesting" life. She taught Jesse how to dive into the pool from on his knees since there was no diving allowed.

We got to go to tour the Air Force Base where Edgey's brother and his wife works. Got to see fighter planes and stealth planes. They have an awesome paintball field that they said we might be able to go to next time we come down. Edgey and Ethan are both excited about that one.

Now we are back home..... drove straight back too. We did come up through Colorado on the way home though. We decided to try a different, more scenic route. It was beautiful. I could live in Colorado, I think. His mother kept trying to talk us into moving down there. There is like a $10,000 sign on bonus for nurses and Edgey wouldn't have a problem finding work either. I think I would miss our church too much though. Besides, Auntie just moved here to hang out with us. 10k is kinda tempting though..... :)

Must See....

I watched "The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio" twice so far. I watched it the first time by myself and the second time with Edgey. If you have a chance to see it, it is on video. Someday I would like to get the book. It is a true story and it was a huge challenge to me as a christian... the way the woman responds to her family and her husband and life in general. I'm sure there is much more in the book (written by her daughter).

Unbelievable.....

You know, I knew things would get bad at some point but this is pretty bad. You better think about where you stand on this kind of stuff......

MPAA places Christianity in same category as sex, violence, profanity
Be sure to forward this to your friends and family!

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) is now warning parents of movies which contain a reference to the Christian faith, equating Christianity as being on the same level of sex, violence and profanity when it comes to objectionable material.

The MPAA is controlled by Hollywood moguls known for their bitter opposition to Christianity.

A new family film featuring miracles and a pro-God theme has earned the PG rating because it would offend non-believers. The MPAA refuses to give movies which promote the homosexual lifestyle a similar warning. In other words, MPAA warns parents if a movie has Christianity presented in a positive manner but refuses to warn them if homosexuality is presented in a positive manner.

Facing the Giants is the story of a Christian high school football coach who uses his undying faith to battle the giants of fear and failure. Due to the Christian content, the MPAA rated it PG, placing it in the same offensive category as sex, violence and profanity.

The plot includes several prayers being answered, a medical miracle, and a mystic who delivers a message from God. The scene which MPAA found most offensive was a discussion between the football coach and a boy named Matt. The coach says the boy needs to stop bad-mouthing his father and get right with God.

The boy replies: "You really believe in all that honoring God and following Jesus stuff? Well, I ain't trying to be disrespectful, but not everybody believes in that."

The coach responds: "Matt, nobody's forcing anything on you. Following Jesus Christ is the decision that you're going to have to make for yourself. You may not want to accept it, because it will change your life. You will never be the same."

That, says the MPAA, is very objectionable and parents need to be warned.

It's been a while since I posted. My mother called last night to see what was going on because she hasn't been updated on here for a while. I just laughed. She is addicted now.
Anyway, Sat and Sun I worked very hard. It was very busy for the Memorial Weekend. I had a totally spanish speaking gal who was very difficult to care for because of the language barrier. Thank God for interpreters. I was able to say a few things thanks to the Spanish class. I have missed the last couple of classes so I'm afraid I have missed a lot.
Monday was relaxing because we slept in. Yeah! Edgey took Elizabeth out for breakfast and I hung out here with the boys. Ethan slept in too. Jesse kept wanting me to take him out and leave Ethan home to sleep, but I didn't think that would be very nice. Then Edgey did a little bit of yard work and I read the Sunday paper.
Monday night we went to Guthrie's to grill out and we played a fun game. The kids played together and Ethan watched TV.
Tuesday was the same old thing and I went through some things in the kids' rooms. It is unreal what accumulates every month or weekly for that matter. I did lots of laundry and made some healthy grain dish for dinner. Surprisingly everyone liked it, even Jesse who hates rice. Hmmmm. :) Maybe you haven't heard the rice story.....

When Edgey went to the Philippines he ate a lot of rice. That's pretty much all they eat over there. Well my children were being extremely unthankful for their food for a couple of days and I had had it. Sooooooooo, for 3 days they had nothing but rice. Rice puff cereal (I did allow milk), rice for lunch and rice for supper (I did put a little chicken in the dinner rice once in a while). That's all they got. Whaaaaa. Did they hate that! but they were sure thankful for "real" food when we were done. So, since then, Jesse hasn't eaten rice much unless he doesn't realize it's there. Poor Jesse.

We have been doing pretty good on the healthy eating plan except for some chips and candy on Monday and then McDonalds on Wednesday. We all had happy meals and I had a salad also. I did pretty good because I gave away my fries except for a couple of them.
Yes, we went to McDonalds yesterday and then to the park where they played ball and tried to teach my friend's kid how to swing by himself without having to be pushed. Our kids have a swing in the backyard so they have it figured out now. Eliz and Jesse have yet to really ride their bikes without training wheels yet because they don't have much opportunity to do it around here. They don't get out in the front of our house much. If you want to know why read earlier post Tales of the Hood.

So that catches us up to date. Today they are going to mom's to hang out and I am going to have lunch with Edgey who forgot his work phone today and needs it. Then I need to run errands and look for some hairclips. I only have 2 and need some other colors besides pink and purple. :) Then we have to start cooking tonight because we are having company tomorrow for dinner and it's an overnight process. It's our turn to host Edgey's men's group. We borrowed the fun game we played the other night and hopefully can have time to play that.
